Hello World!

Foundry Group raises $225 Million Early-Stage Venture Capital Fund

We are now officially in business. With fundraising completed in November of last year and a brand new shiny website, we can officially take the wraps off what we are doing and say “Hello World!”

For those of you who don’t know us, we are a Boulder, Colorado-based venture fund that invests in early-stage Internet and software companies across the United States. Collectively, we have over 50 years of experience and have been together as a team for over seven years. We are entrepreneurs, operators, engineers and service professionals and we bring a wide range of skills and experiences to our portfolio companies.

We’ve created this site to let folks know what we are up to and to give you some insight into what we are thinking about. If you become a regular reader, you’ll see articles about our portfolio companies, our thoughts about some of our investment themes and our candid opinions about issues that affect the venture capital industry. We’ve already invested in a few very exciting companies and we’ll soon be writing about them.

For those of you who read some of our personal blogs like www.feld.com, www.askthevc.com, www.ryanmcintyre.com and www.sethlevine.com, don’t worry – we’ll continue to inflict our knowledge, humor, disgust, and occasional controversy on you as we have been doing for the past few years.

We would like to thank everyone who helped us get up and running, especially our new limited partners and the many entrepreneurs who we’ve worked with over the years. You have enabled us to be in a position to raise this fund and we very much look forward to working with all of you. We also are excited to meet new folks and to create long-lasting and successful partnerships.

Interesting “thematic investing”: HCI (or I've always called these things HIDs (Human Interface Devices)

To arrange for a “Cyber Athletic” Human Interface, (expanding true physical expression inside of the digital world) the logical approach would would be to use mouse/keyboard signal output.

The GameRunner does exactly this, making it possible to move about, (run, walk, you set the pace) with full interactivity, (all axis of movement and all other functions covered) in the most popularly selling genre of 3D video games. Take a look at videos of it at: gamerunner.us

This is one application for the underlying IP.

Please look and post comments. I am interested to hear back.
